First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain has said that football is not only a popular game, but also a sport that boosts unity and national spirit among the people. The First Lady made this remark while speaking at the function held to celebrate Sun Football Team’s success in the first Women’s Football Tournament. The function was held last evening at Dharubaaruge.
In her speech, the First Lady said that football could bring communities together, during times of discord.
Commending the performance of the Sun team in the women’s national football tournament, the First Lady encouraged the players to continue in the sporting career.
Madam Ilham highlighted the philanthropic work of the Chairman of Sun Hotels and Resorts Mr Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, and expressed gratitude for his sincere service.
At the function, First Lady Madam Ilham Hussain presented the trophies for the two players from Sun Team, who were among the top five players of the First Women’s National Football Tournament.
