President Mohamed Nasheed has expressed his hopes for full-fledged investigation of torture against inmates in the Maldives, by the Human Rights Commission.

Speaking in regard to the World Human Rights Day to be marked tomorrow, the President said that the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has so far failed to conduct a full investigation of torture faced at prisons in the country.

In his radio address delivered this morning, President Nasheed also noted that for a country to grasp advancement and development, it was essential for its people to be thoroughly informed with their country history, and for them to be able to accept it.
