President Mohamed Nasheed has returned the third amendment bill to the decentralization act, to the People’s Majlis for reconsideration.
The Bill was passed by the People’s Majlis on 22 June 2011.
In the letter sent to the Speaker of the Parliament Abdulla Shahid, the President noted the various concerns highlighted by the Attorney General, in his legal advice on this bill. He also requested the Speaker of the Parliament for further review and modification of the bill, with consideration of the points noted by the Attorney General.
