President Mohamed Nasheed, as part of his tour to some islands of Shaviyani Atoll, has visited Milandhoo and met with the island council today.

Meeting the council, the President discussed the government’s development programs proposed for Milandhoo.

The President highlighted the harbour construction project that is near completion. He sought the Council’s view on further developing the harbour to be a complete commercial harbour.

The President also shared the proposed drawings of the extension to the Milandhoo School’s hall.

In addition, he proposed the planned office building to be made a multi purpose building with space for the secretariat of the council, NGOs, as well as commercial facilities such as a café and a guesthouse.

During the visit to Milandhoo, the President met with the people of Milandhoo yesterday.

Addressing the people of the island, the President said decentralization has given the government the opportunity to focus on each island.
