As part of the tour of Raa Atoll, President Mohamed Nasheed has visited and met the people of Dhuvaafaru yesterday.

 
Meeting the people of Dhuvaafaru, President Nasheed revealed the government’s intention to develop Kandholhudhoo of Raa Atoll as an industrial island.
 
Dhuvaafaru is a newly inhabited island with relocation the people of Kandholhudhoo following the destruction of the island in 2004 December tsunami.
 
Speaking on the government’s pledges, the President reiterated that the government pledged to link all the islands of the country with a transport network to revive trade and foster development of the islands. He underscored that since the North Province’s transport network came into operation, a total of 3127 passengers have begun their journey from Dhuvaafaru, while 2964 people have completed their journey in the island.
 

The President also highlighted the extent to which the government had been able to fulfill its pledge to provide access to healthcare for all, and the economic and social benefits for the island of the government’s pension of Mrf2000 to each individual above the age of 65.
