President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the developmental initiatives on the islands must be conducted in line with the people's aspirations. He made the remarks while meeting the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Vaadhoo Island in North Maalhosmadulu Atoll today.

During the meeting, Council members articulated their development priorities to the President. Notably, they underscored the critical importance of shore protection, relocation of the waste management centre, and harbour development. Additionally, discussions centred around finding solutions for the urgent allocation of housing plots. Council members also raised concerns about the halt of the water and sanitation network establishment project and the challenges arising from space limitations at the council Secretariat.

Responding to the sentiments, the President tasked his Ministers to seek solutions for relocating the waste management centre. The President reassured that the developmental initiatives on the islands would be implemented in line with the aspirations of its residents.
