President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the upcoming upgrade of the Ihavandhoo Health Center to incorporate dialysis services, preceding the establishment of Ihavandhoo Hospital. He made these remarks while speaking with the residents of HA. Ihavandhoo Island during his current tour of several islands in the Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, and Noonu Atolls.

The President emphasized the establishment of a high-quality hospital within the year, aligning with his commitments to strengthen the healthcare system.

He also stated that the establishment of the island’s ice plant would remain operational. He further highlighted the need to invest approximately USD 10 million in upgrading fishing infrastructure to support the local fishing industry in the area, as envisioned by the region's residents. The President noted plans to explore a contractor financing model to ensure the completion of the work, even if it meant carrying out the project over an extended period.

The President stressed the need to find permanent solutions for the challenges faced by fiber workshops. Additionally, the President revealed plans to integrate waste management services, handled by WAMCO and tailored to the community's needs. Furthermore, he committed to addressing waste management challenges with modern and permanent solutions.

In his speech, the President noted that Ihavandhoo and Hoarafushi are considered urban centers in the region; therefore, development works for the region should be carried out on a wider or larger scale.
