President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) of Kolhumadulu Vilufushi Island. The meeting was held in the Secretariat of the Dhiyamigili Council today.

Speaking at the meeting, council members expressed concerns over halted development projects. Councillors noted the hospital development project and the Vilufushi Airport development project as the two most prominent development projects needing expedition. The President assured that the Administration would implement the two development projects.

The council members shared the island community’s most pertinent needs with the President. Some issues addressed during the meeting include fisheries expansion and tourism development. Council members also emphasised the need to assist and compensate the families who lost their homes due to the tsunami. The council also requested the President to provide essential services to the 100 housing units being developed to resolve housing issues.

At the meeting, President Dr Muizzu assured the Administration’s facilitation of solutions through the relevant Government ministries and offices.
