President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated on Friday that the "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition is among the best coordinated Quran recitation competitions held in the Maldives.

He made these remarks at the closing ceremony of the "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition, held in the indoor hall of the Maldives Centre for Social Education. First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Vice President Faisal Naseem, state dignitaries, and government officials also attended the ceremony.

The President noted that the "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition demonstrated the prevalence of youth with genuine love for reciting Quran and pursuing Quranic knowledge. He stated that the competition proved that there are many capable youth in the nation with the skills and ability to recite the Holy Quran with the proper rules of recitation. He highlighted the importance of proper guidance, training and experience in encouraging more youth to become Huffaz (people who have memorized the Holy Quran) and Qaris (people who recite the Quran in Tajweed). He stated that this in turn increases the number of people qualified to compete in international competitions and win gold medals.

The President remarked that "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition is unique in its goals to help participants strengthen their skills and pave the way for participation in worldwide Quran competitions. He additionally highlighted the value of instilling a love for the Holy Quran in the hearts of young people, pointing out that this competition's inclusion of an element focusing on Quranic knowledge and interpretation contributes to its success.

At the ceremony, President Solih presented prizes including a grand prize of MVR 300,000 to Mohamed Saaee Mubarak, the winner of the"Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition. The competition's second-place winner, Fathimath Thuqa Haleem received the prizes from the First Lady, while the third-place winner, Yaeesh Mohamed Niyaz, received them from the Vice President.

The "Ran Thaaju" Quran Recitation Competition is produced as a reality show by Raajje TV in association with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment for the holy month of Ramadan. Auditions for the competition were held in six regions and featured 111 participants.
