President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met on Sunday with the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Mahibadhoo Island in the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll. The meeting was held at the President's Office.

At the meeting, the council members noted that it had been 35 years since housing plots were last issued on the island and expressed their gratitude to President Solih for earmarking in the budget for next year the land reclamation project for the island. Noting that the project would help address space constraints on the island, the council members expressed their support for the administration's developmental agenda.

The discussions at the meeting also focused on the pertinent needs and concerns of the island's community. Topics discussed at the meeting included housing, waste management, shore protection, expediting the hospital project, road construction, and youth development.

The council members also requested the inclusion of Maafaru Lagoon under their jurisdiction. The WDC members also shared their concerns about needing more dedicated office space.

President Solih briefed them at the meeting on the administration's developmental plans for the island. He also assured the members of the administration's commitment to finding agreeable solutions to the concerns of the island's residents.
