President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday afternoon, met with the council members of the Buruni Island Council of Thaa Atoll. At the meeting, held at the President’s Office, the council members shared their satisfaction, and that of the residents, with the numerous developmental initiatives underway on the island and expressed their gratitude to President Solih.

The President and the council members had a detailed conversation about the island’s developmental strategy, during which the council members shared with the President the most pertinent needs and pressing concerns of the residents. The council members made a request to add to the harbour development project slated for next year, in addition to concerns related to guesthouse development and space constraints at the council secretariat and health centre. They also spoke about the need for a children’s park and tourism development in the region.

Speaking with the council members, President Solih briefed them about the government’s developmental plans for the island. He then assured them that his office would work towards finding amicable solutions to their concerns.

Hassan Afeef, the Member of Parliament for Vilufushi Constituency, accompanied the council members at the meeting.
