President Nasheed has sent a message of felicitations on the occasion of this years Commonwealth Day. In his message, the President extended his sincere felicitations to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth, and to all peoples of the Commonwealth on the occasion of this year’s Commonwealth Day.
In the message, the President noted that the Maldives was among the many Member countries to have succeeded in the journey to a liberal democracy, and paid his gratitude to the Commonwealth for its support for this peaceful transition in the Maldives. The President also welcomed this year’s Commonwealth Day theme of “Serving a new Generation”, and emphasised the need to engage the youth at the international level in addressing the multi-faceted concerns of the world.
Commonwealth Day is marked on the second Monday of March every year.
