President Mohamed Nasheed has today presented National Awards of Honour and National Awards of Recognition. The awards were given at the official reception held on the occasion of the Republic Day.

Recipients of Awards of Honour received a shield of honour, a badge of honour and a commemorative plaque, while the recipients of Awards of Recognition received a commemorative plaque and a certificate.

Six individuals received National Awards of Honour.

- Mr Hassan Qasim for his contribution to traditional medicine in the area of health
- Mr Ali Hussain for his contribution to traditional medicine in the area of health
- Mr Mohamed Hussain (Kan’dhi Mohamed Fulhu) in the area of fisheries
- Mr Mohamed Manik in the area of fisheries
- Mr Mohamed Waheed Deen for his contributions to the society
- Ms Khadheeja Aboobakuru in the area of small and medium enterprise (tailoring and embroidery)

Recipients of National Awards of Recognition are:

- Dr. Farkhondeh Yeganegi in the area of health
- Mr Ahmed Wafir in the area of social service
- Mr Ahmed Athif in the area of arts and crafts (boat building)
- Mr Adam Haleem in the area of journalism and information
- Mr Mohamed Majid in the area of performing arts (music and singing)
- Mr Mohamed Niyaz in the area of visual arts (film and video production and direction)
- Daisy Workshop in the area of arts and crafts
- Swift Engineering Private Limited in the area of construction
- Arks Marine Services Private Limited in the area of transportation

Mr Mohamed Manik, who received the Award of Honour in the area of fisheries, spoke on behalf of recipients of the awards.
