President Mohamed Nasheed has returned to Malé after concluding his official visit to Singapore.
During the visit, the President paid a courtesy call on President of Singapore S. R. Nathan and met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. At the meetings held separately, the President discussed with Singaporean leaders ways to further strengthen the close friendly relations that exist between the Maldives and Singapore.
He also extended his gratitude to the people and the government of Singapore for their continued support and assistance to the development of the Maldives.
While on the visit, the President also addressed the Asia-Pacific Water Ministers’ Meeting being held in Singapore. In his address, the President highlighted the link between low carbon growth and future water security.
The President also attended a business forum organised by the Maldivian High Commission in Singapore in connection with his visit.
This is President Nasheed’s first official visit to Singapore.
