President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this evening presented the National Award for Special Achievement. The awards were given at the official function held at Dharubaaruge, to mark this year’s Republic Day.

Recipients of the National Award for Special Achievement received a medal and a certificate.

Twenty five individuals received the National Award for Special Achievement this year – twelve individuals for achieving the highest ranking position in a higher academic course or training course, and thirteen individuals for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework.

The twelve individuals who achieved the highest ranking position in a higher academic course or training course are:

Bachelor’s Degree:

- Mr Ahmed Iruhash

- Ms Nazly Rashad

- Mr Ibrahim Anwar

- Mr Ali Shiyam

- Mr Ghanim Hussain

- Ms Mariyam Thoaifa

Post Graduate Certificate:


- Ms Aishath Sinau

Master’s Degree:

- Ms Mariyam Shahuneeza Naseer

- Mr Ahmed Ali

- Mr Ahmed Niyaz

Recipients who were conferred the medal for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework are:

The cricket team who won the Asian Cricket Council Trophy Challenge 2010, held in Thailand, were also conferred the national award for special achievement, for achieving the top prize in an international tournament.

In his speech, President Dr Mohamed Waheed extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of the National Award for Special Achievement.
