President Mohamed Nasheed in his weekly radio address, which was recorded in Manchester, has said that his trip to Manchester is very valuable and beneficial to the Maldives.

The President said that the UK Conservative Party – which many people believe will win the next general elections – has a good relationship with the Maldives.

“The friendship that all senior members of the Conservative Party have with the Maldives, brings esteem and honour to [the Maldives],” added the President.

The President’s visit was to participate in the 126th annual conference of the Conservative Party at the invitation party leader David Cameron.

During his visit the President met with Conservative Party leader David Cameron and Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague. He addressed the Conservative Party conference yesterday.

The President will return to the Maldives later today.

In his radio address, the President also spoke on the three school examinations to begin this month.

He urged all students to work hard for the examinations. He also urged parents and teachers to assist the students in the preparations for the examinations.
