US Ambassador pays his farewell call on the President

The US Ambassador to the Maldives, Mr. Robert Blake has paid his farewell call on President Nasheed.

In the meeting held this morning at the President’s Office, President Nasheed and the Ambassador Blake discussed on ways of further strengthening the close bilateral ties that exist between the Maldives and the United States.

Ambassador Blake assured the President that the US government would continue to offer assistance to the Maldives in all possible ways, especially in maritime safety and in tackling the environmental issues facing the Maldives.

Speaking at the meeting, the President thanked the US Government for the assistance and support given to the Maldives in various fields. He also noted the generous assistance and support given by the US Government to the Maldives during the democratization process of the Maldives. The President especially noted, with appreciation, Ambassador Blake’s involvement in this endeavour.
The President Nasheed also congratulated Ambassador Blake on his nomination as the Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian affairs.
