Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed last night departed for Australia to participate in the 2009 Australian National Carbon Conference.

The Conference which is to be held on the 27th and 28th of August in Brisbane, will bring together industry leaders, policy makers and eminent academics, to discuss the emerging carbon economy.

During the visit, Vice President will also meet with senior officials of Australian government and Australian entrepreneurs.

Dr Waheed is scheduled to meet with Mr Bob McMullan, Parliament Secretary for International Development at Parliament House; Ms Louise Hand, Australian Ambassador for Climate Change; CEO of Austrade and senior officials of Spectrum Energy.

Vice President’s visit was sponsored by the organisers of the conference.
