Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that the action planning meeting on “Maldives: towards a future without drugs” was very successful. He made this statement while speaking at a press conference held this evening at Aarah following the conclusion of the meeting.

He said that during the meeting which was participated by stakeholders, several measures were identified that could be taken to combat the drug menace.

Speaking on the decisions reached at the meeting, the Vice President said that a wide range measures were decided including to revise the draft bill on drugs.

He further said that all participants of the meeting were committed to work together in implementing the decisions reached.

The participants of the conference which was inaugurated on 15 August included youths, recovering addicts, members of NGOs set up to create awareness on drug addiction, law enforcement authorities, members of the People’s Majlis, developmental partners and concerned government officials.
