President Mohamed Nasheed has today met with Mr Kieren Fitzpatrick, Director of Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF).
Discussions were focused on the Maldives becoming a full member of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC).
Maldives was granted Observer Status at the ICC in 2008.
At the meeting, discussions were also focused on further consolidating human rights in the Maldives and complying with internationally acceptable human rights norms.
The President of the Maldivian Human Rights Commission, Mr Ahmed Saleem, participated in the meeting.
