National Awards Committee will announce the fields and selection criteria for national awards, and open for nominations from the public for this year’s national awards in mid August.
President Nasheed formed the National Awards Committee on 20 July. The Committee is currently deliberating on the fields in which the awards will be conferred and the selection criteria for these awards. The Committee is also consulting with the government authorities on deciding the fields for awards.
The Government is to begin conferring National Awards in this year's Republic Day.
