President H.E. Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Barbados, H.E. the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, SC, M.P., and the Government of Barbados, for the warm hospitality and excellent arrangements made for him during his stopover in Barbados today.
Upon arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA), the President was warmly received by the Hon. C. Sandra V. Husbands, M.P., Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Foreign And Foreign Trade, and Ms Resa Layne, Chief of Protocol. The President and his delegation were then given a tour of the cultural and historical sites on the island.
President Dr Muizzu conveyed his gratitude to the Prime Minister over a telephone conversation during this transit, as Prime Minister Mottley was out of the country.
During the conversation, the President expressed his delight to witness the beauty of Barbados and leave the country with fond memories of the generous hospitality, that he was guided through the wonderful landmark and stunning natural beauty. He also praised Prime Minster's leadership at the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), especially on the reform of the international financial architecture. He further added that the Maldivian Government prioritises and hopes for a future where both countries can work together on the front towards implementing the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS.
The President transited to Barbados on his return journey back to the Maldives after concluding his visit to Antigua and Barbuda to attend the SIDS4.
