President Mohamed Nasheed has this morning commenced a tour to some islands of North and South Thiladhunmathi atoll. The first leg of his tour was Thuraakunu.

Addressing the people of Thuraakunu, the President briefed them on the government’s developmental policies. He said that his government was working to build a good governance system in the Maldives. He further said that the people of the Maldives needed a better quality of life and that the government would fulfil its pledges to the people.

The President’s second stop of the tour was at Uligamu. Speaking with the people of the island, the President highlighted the high priority accorded by the government in providing basic services to the people of the Maldives. Speaking in this regard, the President said basic services such as water, sewerage and electricity were the backbone of development.
