President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday officially inaugurated the new office building of state utility provider FENAKA Corporation Limited as part of his ongoing visit to Hirilandhoo Island in the Thaa Atoll. The President arrived on the island this morning on a one-day visit.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih extended his gratitude to the island's people for the warm welcome accorded to him and the accompanying delegation. Stating that the people cannot achieve national development without proper developmental opportunities and the means to live dignified lives, the President added that his administration prioritises ensuring the equitable development of all islands.

President Solih also recalled the state of essential services, including powerhouses and energy production in most islands, when his administration took office. He spoke about the administration's determination to improve electricity services and upgrade utility infrastructure and noted that the new office building would improve the working conditions of FENAKA staff and allow for improved services.

The President also noted that the island's people carried out the construction work on the new building. After the ceremony, the President toured the new office building. It can accommodate 30 staff and is one of ten office buildings developed by the company across Thaa Atoll.

During the visit to Hirilandhoo Island, he would also attend the ceremony to mark the 71st anniversary of Hirilandhoo School. Later, he would inaugurate the new volleyball court developed on the island.
