The High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Claude Morel, presented his letter of credence to H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday. The ceremony was held at the President's Office this morning.

The President welcomed the High Commissioner to the Maldives and congratulated him on assuming his new role. Afterwards, President Solih and High Commissioner Morel engaged in discussions on various subjects, including improving maritime security, counter-narcotics cooperation, anti-human trafficking cooperation, tourism, and the fisheries sector.

Speaking at the meeting, High Commissioner Morel also commended the work of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Abdulla Shahid (ODRI), during his tenure as the President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He also spoke about the Maldives' prominent role in the international arena on climate-related issues and at the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS).

The High Commissioner expressed profound gratitude to President Solih for his visit to the Seychelles in 2019, highlighting that the landmark visit had been momentous and further cemented the relationship between the two nations. The President conveyed his best wishes and hopes for enhanced relations and cooperation between the two nations during the High Commissioners' tenure.
