Vice President Faisal Naseem concluded his official trip to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to attend the World Government Summit 2023 and returned to Malé on Thursday. He visited Dubai at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The World Government Summit 2023 was held from February 13-15, 2023.

During the visit, the Vice President attended the 9th World Government Summit on Monday at the Madinat Jumeirah. He also addressed the "Future of Work" forum held as part of the summit. In his speech, the Vice President called on the international community to better use the available opportunities and resources to achieve the future we want for our citizens.

The Vice President also launched the "Maldives Leadership Program" at the summit. It is the first training programme launched as part of the UAE's Government Experience Exchange Program (GEEP). The programme targets Maldives' government employees as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the UAE and the Maldives.

During his trip, the Vice President also met with H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah. Dr Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, UAE's Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, COP28 President-elect, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Masdar Chairman, and UAE's Special Envoy on Climate Change, also paid the Vice President a courtesy call.

The Vice President was accompanied on the trip by a high-level delegation of government officials.
