President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met on Saturday with the island council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Nilandhoo Island in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Nilandhoo Island Council.

At the meeting, the council members noted the significant number of developmental projects carried out on the island by President Solih's administration and extended their gratitude. Projects initiated by the administration to develop a new building for the school, Agro National Corporation (Agro Nat), and volleyball court have been completed.

The council members also shared the most pertinent needs and concerns of the island's community, including addressing coastal protection, difficulties in utilising the harbour and the need for a new youth centre and road construction following the completion of the island's sewerage network project. They also noted space constraints at the council office.

The members of the WDC shared their concerns about the sale of agricultural produce through Agro Nat and budget constraints.

Speaking with the community leaders, President Solih briefed them about the administration's developmental agenda for the island. He also assured the administration's commitment to finding solutions for the concerns raised at the meeting.

President Solih is currently on a tour of three islands in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll. Nilandhoo Island is his second stop. On Friday, he visited Dhaandhoo Island, and he will later today travel to Maamendhoo Island.
