The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid (ODRI), delivered the Maldives' national statement at the 10th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) in Luanda, Angola, on Thursday. The Foreign Minister is attending the OACPS Summit as the Special Envoy of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The Foreign Minister stated that common values and shared challenges had always bound the Maldives and OACPS member states, despite the geographical distance. He noted that the Maldives would work with all OACPS member states to address these challenges by actively contributing to the organisation's work through experience exchange. He also thanked all member states for their strong support for the Maldives in the international arena and for welcoming the Maldives to the organisation member.

The Maldives became the newest member of OACPS with unanimous support from all its member states. Themed "3 Continents, 3 Oceans, 1 Common Destiny: Towards a more sustainable and resilient OACPS," the 10th Heads of State and Government Summit of the OACPS is being held from December 6-9, 2022.
