President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed departed on Wednesday on a State Visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. A delegation of senior Maldivian government officials is accompanying them on the visit.
The President is travelling to Bahrain upon the invitation of the King of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with whom he will meet to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations.
The President and the First Lady are also scheduled to meet with state dignitaries during their visit. The two governments will hold bilateral talks to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, after which a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) will be exchanged.
The President and the First Lady will also attend a luncheon hosted by the King of Bahrain in their honour.
The President and the First Lady will conclude the state visit and return to the Maldives on 8 October, 2022.
