The new Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Itzel Patiño de Villarreal, on Monday, presented her credentials to H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The ceremony was held at the President's Office.

Meeting the Ambassador after the credence ceremony, President Solih noted that this was the first time a Panamanian Ambassador had been appointed to the Maldives and congratulated her on the new appointment.

The President and the Ambassador discussed various topics of mutual interest, including multilateralism, sustainable tourism, climate change, democracy, counter terrorism, and cooperation in the international arena.

Before concluding the meeting, the President and the Ambassador reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.

The Maldives and Panama established diplomatic relations in 1989.
