الْحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِين، وَالصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ أَشْرَفِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالْمُرْسَلِين،وَعَلَىٰ آلـه وَصَحْبِـهِ أَجْمَعِين.

And a very good morning to you all.
While we are gathered here to celebrate International Youth Day, it is a pleasure for me to address this gathering of young people who are the future of our country and the world that we live in.
Today we are witnessing the negative impacts of COVID-19 in all corners of the world. With millions of deaths, COVID-19 has become a brutal reality-check of our unpreparedness for the biggest global challenge in recent history. It has destroyed decades of progress and developments achieved while driving the economies backwards and forcing people into poverty and depriving people of their livelihoods.
The global pandemic has exposed the disparities and the existing inherent vulnerabilities in all of our societies. These include the elderly who struggled alone at home and in hospitals; the dispersed communities with no access to adequate healthcare; the women who lost their sources of income; the youth without hope for employment and the children who struggle to get an education without access to the internet.
While we are trying to build back better from the aftermath of COVID-19, it is important to use a “whole-of-society” approach and integrate all the sectors of the society into the process of decision-making and implementation. The role of youth in decision-making has become a very important component. It is also, imperative to identify gaps and challenges, as well as opportunities.
According to the UN, the majority of the global population agree that the age balance in politics is wrong and more than two-thirds of people across all age groups agree that more opportunities for younger people to have a say in decision-making or policy development would make the political systems better.
In this regard, while half the population of Maldives is youth, it is extremely important for them to be integrated into every stage of development. The role played by the young population of Maldives is Undeniable in the developmental process of the Maldives.
More than 11,000 youth are working as civil servants and many more are working in the private sector contributing immensely to the progress of the country’s economy. The voluntary active involvement of the youth population in combating COVID-19, from running the Health Emergency Operations Center to vaccination of 90% of the population is exemplary and showed that the youth population of the Maldives is promising for the future of the country.
The world is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, while also combating the challenges imposed by climate change, threats to biodiversity, environmental degradation and ocean acidification. To overcome these challenges and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the role of our youth population is crucial all over the world.
Our future is our youth. While education is fundamental to achieving the SDGs, it is also fundamental to the development and progress of the youth population as they are the key drivers toward achieving SDGs. It is important to build frameworks to enable young people to be active global citizens and act around the most pressing social, environmental and economic challenges facing our communities. Governments around the world need to offer new learning opportunities that engage and educate young people about global issues. There is no doubt that youth can be a positive force for development when provided with the knowledge and opportunities they need to thrive.
At this point, we all need to believe that only ensuring the youth are integral to the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and actions can we ensure that no one is left behind.
To conclude I would like to thank the UN Resident Coordinator Ms. Catherine Haswell and her dynamic team for organizing this successful event to mark the International Youth Day and also for her strong commitment and leadership in steering the work of the UN Country Team to reinforce the strategic partnership between the Maldives and UN. I would also like to thank the City of Kulhudhuffushi, the people and the Council for this successful event.
ނިންމާލުމުގެ ކުރިން އަޅުގަނޑު ކޮންމެވެސް އެއްޗެއް ދިވެހިން ދަންނަވާލާނަން. އެނގިވަޑައިގަންނަވާނެ، މިފަދަ ދުވަހެއް އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ފާހަގަކުރަމުންދާއިރުވެސް، ޚާއްޞަކޮށް، ވޭތުވެދިޔަ ދެ އަހަރުދުވަސްވެސް އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ތަފާތު ތަޖުރިބާތަކެއް ކުރެވިގެން މިދިޔައީ. މުޅި ދުނިޔެއަށް މި އަންނަ ބަދަލުތަކާއި އަދި އަޅުގަނޑުމެން މި ކުރާ ތަޖުރިބާތަކުގެ މައްޗަށް ބަލާއިރު، މިވަގުތު އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް އެންމެ މުހިންމު މިވަނީ ޒުވާނުން އިތުރަށް ބާރުވެރިކުރުވައި، ޤައުމުގެ ކަންތައްތައް ނިންމުމުގައި އިތުރަށް އެ ފުރުޞަތު ހޯދައިދިނުން.
ޚާއްޞަކޮށް، އަޅުގަނޑުމެން އެބަޖެހޭ ޒުވާނުންނަކީ ހުނަރުވެރި ބަޔަކަށް ހެދުމުގެ މަސައްކަތްތައް ހުރިހާ ދިމާއަކުންވެސް ކުރަން. މިކަން ފެށިގެން އަންނަންޖެހެނީ ސްކޫލްގެ ތެރެއިން. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ކަނޑައެޅިފައި އޮތް ކަރިކިއުލަމަކީ އަދި ސިލަބަސްތަކުގެ މައްސަލައެއްވެސް ނޫން. ޙަޤީޤީ މައްސަލައަކަށްވަނީ، ތަންފީޒު ކުރުމުގައި ހުރިހާ ފަރާތެއްގެ ބައިވެރިވުން އޮންނަންޖެހޭ މިންވަރު އިތުރުކުރަންވީ. ސްކޫލްތެރެއިންނާއި، އެނޫން ދާއިރާތަކުން. އަދި ގޭތެރެއިންނާއި، މުޅި މުޖުތަމަޢުންވެސް އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް މާދަމާއަށްޓަކައި އެންމެ މުހިންމީ ޒުވާނުން ބާރުވެރިކުރުވައިގެން އަދި ޒުވާނުންނަށް އެކިއެކި ތަމްރީނު ދެވިގެން، ރަނގަޅު ބައެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ޒުވާނުން އުފެއްދިގެންކަން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ޤަބޫލުކުރެވެންވީ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ތެރޭގައި ޒަމާނުއްސުރެ ފެށިގެން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ދަސްވެފައި ހުރި ރަނގަޅު ހުރިހާ އާދަކާދަތަކަކީ އެއީ، އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ދޫކޮށްލައިގެންވާނެ އެއްޗެއް ނޫން. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ކާބަފައިން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ދަސްކޮށްދެއްވި ކަންތައްތައް އަޅުގަނޑުމެން އިޢާދަކުރަން އެބަޖެހޭ. އެހެންވީމާ، މި ހުރިހާ ކަމަކާއެކު، އަޅުގަނޑުމެން މަސައްކަތްތަކެއް ކުރަން އެބަޖެހޭ، ކުރީގައި ނުކުރާ މިންވަރަށް.
އަޅުގަނޑު ކުރީގައިވެސް މި ދެންނެވި ފަދައިން، އެނގިވަޑައިގަންނަވާނެ، މުޅި ދުނިޔެއަށް އައި ޕެންޑެމިކެއް. ޕެންޑެމިކަށްފަހު ކޮންފްލިކްޓެއް. ކޮންފްލިކްޓަކަށްފަހު އެކިއެކި ކަންތައްތައް ކުރިމަތިވަމުން މިދަނީ. އެހެންވީމާ، މިއަދު އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ބިލްޑްކުރަން ޖެހެނީ ވަރުގަދަ ސޮސައިޓީއެއް. އެއީ އަންނަ ކޮންމެ ކަމަކުން އެ ލޮޅުންނާރާނެފަދަ ކޮމިޔުނިޓީއެއް އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ތައްޔާރުކުރަން މި ޖެހެނީ.
އަޅުގަނޑު މިއަދު ހަމަ ޚާއްޞަކޮށް، މި ހުރިހާ ކަމެއްގައިވެސް ފެށިގެން އަންނަ އެންމެ މުހިންމު ދެބައި ކަމަށްވާ އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ލޮބުވެތި މުދައްރިސުންނަށް އަދި އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ލޮބުވެތި މައިންބަފައިންގެ ކިބައިން އަޅުގަނޑު އެދެނީ، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގައި މިއަދު މިވަގުތު އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ތަޢުލީމު އުނގަންނައިދެމުން މިގެންދާ ނުވަދިހަ ދެހާސް ތިންސަތޭކަ ދަރިވަރުންނަކީ، މުހިންމު ބައެއްގެ ގޮތުގައި ބަލައި، މާދަމާ މުޅި ޤައުމުގެ ފިއުޗަރ، މުޅި ޤައުމުގެ މުސްތަޤްބަލްކަން ދެކިގެން އަޅުގަނޑުމެން މަސައްކަތްތައް ކުރަމާ ހިނގާށޭ. ސްކޫލްތެރެއިންވެސް ދަސްކޮށްދޭންވީ ކަންބޮޑުވުން ހުރި ކަންތައްތަކަށް ތައްޔާރުކުރުވަން. ކްލައިމެޓް ޗޭންޖަށް މި އަންނަ ބަދަލުތަކާ ހެދި އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ކުރިމަތިމިވާ ކަންތައްތަކާއި އަދި މިނޫނަސް މިވަގުތު އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ މުޅި ދުނިޔެއާއި މުޅި ޤައުމަށް ދިމާވެފައި ހުރި ކަންތައްތަކުގެ މައްޗަށް ބަލާފައި، ޤައުމަށް އެންމެ ބޭނުންވާކަހަލަ ދަރިންތަކެއް އުފެއްދުމުގެ މަސައްކަތަކީ އެއީ އެންމެން އެކުގައި ކުރަންވީ ކަމަކީ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެން މިއަދު ކުރަންވީ ކަމަކީ އެންމެން އެއްބައިވާންވީ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ދެންމެ މި ވީޑިއޯއިންވެސް ފެނިގެން މިދިޔައީ، ނަސޭހަތުގެ ގޮތުގައި އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށްވުރެ މާ އުމުރުން ދުވަސްވެ އަދި ގިނަ ތަޖުރިބާތަކެއް ކޮށްފައި ތިއްބެވި ފަރާތްތަކުންވެސް އެ ވިދާޅުވަނީ ނެތިގެންދާ އެއްޗަކީ ކުރީގައި އޮތް އެއްބައިވަންތަކަމާއި އެކުވެރިކަމޭ. މިފަދަ ޤައުމެއްގައި އެކުވެރި ބައެއްގެތެރޭގައި އެންމެ މުހިންމު ކަމަކީ އެކުވެރިކަން.
އެނގިވަޑައިގަންނަވާނެ، އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ހަރުބަހެއްގައި އޮވޭ، އެކުވެރިކަމަކީ ގަދަފަދަ ބާރެކޭ. ވަކިވެގެންދިޔުމަކީ ނިކަމެތިކަމެކޭ. އެހެންވީމާ، މިއަދު ޒުވާނުންނާއި، މުޅި ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ހުރިހާ ރައްޔިތުންނަށް އަޅުގަނޑު ގޮވާލަން ބޭނުންވަނީ، މިވަގުތު ދިވެހި ޤައުމު ބޭނުންވަނީ އެންމެން އެކަތިގަނޑަކަށްވެ، އެކުވެރިވެ ތިބެގެން މަސައްކަތްކޮށް، ކާމިޔާބީއާ ހަމައަށް ދިޔުމަށް ކަމަށްވާތީ، އެގޮތުގައި އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ކުރިއަށްދިޔުމަށް. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ކުރެވޭ ރަނގަޅު މަސައްކަތްތަކުން އިރާދަކުރެއްވިއްޔާ އަޅުގަނޑުމެންނަށް ކާމިޔާބީ ހޯދޭނެ.
އަޅުގަނޑުގެ ދުޢާއަކީ، އަޅުގަނޑުމެން އެންމެން އެކުގައި ކުރާ މަސައްކަތުން، އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ޤައުމަށް ގެންނަން ބޭނުންވާ ހެޔޮ ބަދަލުތައް ގެނައުމުގެ ހެޔޮ ތައުފީޤު اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىމިންވަރު ކުރައްވައި، ދިވެހިރާއްޖެއަށް، ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޒުވާނުންނަށް ފާގަތި އުފާވެރި ދުވަސްތަކެއް މިންވަރު ކުރެއްވުން. ޝުކުރިއްޔާ.
