President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday met with the council members of Thulusdhoo Island in the Kaafu Atoll and held extensive discussions on the administration’s developmental plans for the island. At the meeting held at the President’s Office, the council members spoke highly of the administration-led efforts to improve and strengthen healthcare services across the country. The President of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Thulusdhoo Island also attended the meeting.

Discussions at the meeting focused on expediting developmental projects planned for the island. The council members spoke about advancing projects, including relocation of the waste management centre; construction of a new hospital building, powerhouse, polytechnic building, school classrooms and library; development of a water supply network, and coastal protection.

The council members also shared other needs of the residents with the President, including improving healthcare services further, developing roads, and improving banking services. The President of the WDC shared with President Solih the challenges they face in discharging their duties, including financial constraints and lack of adequate resources and facilities.

Speaking with the council members, President Solih assured them that he would closely monitor the developmental progress of the island and consult with relevant government stakeholders to find amicable solutions to their concerns. The President also briefed the representatives on the latest updates on the developmental projects currently underway and planned for the island.
