President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Wednesday stated that the "Child Safeguarding Policy" is an additional step toward ensuring complete protection and safety for children in all aspects of their lives, including the field of sports. He made the remarks after launching the policy, formulated by the Maldives Olympic Committee in association with Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

The policy aims to ensure the safety and protection of children participating in sporting events from abuse, neglect, and harm. President Solih stated that the policy would also help advance children's knowledge and understanding of their rights.

President Solih emphasised that the policy would be implemented on a national scale, assuring the cooperation of all government offices and institutions. The President urged families and civil society to support the policy's implementation, emphasising how far it has come in terms of child protection and safety.

The "Child Safeguarding Policy" was drawn up in accordance with international best practises and in line with the Maldives' Constitution, laws, and regulations.
