President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the Bill to repeal the Maldives Transport Authority Act (Law No. 3/2016). The Parliament passed the amendment at the 44th sitting of its third session on Monday, November 29, 2021.

With the enactment of the Act, all civil servants employed at the Maldives Transport Authority will be transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. Assets belonging to the Maldives Transport Authority, along with all the rights and obligations conferred to the Authority under law and under any agreements will now be transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

Following ratification, the Act has now been published in the Government Gazette and came into effect today.
