President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent a message of condolence addressed to Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, following the passing of the country's fifth President, His Excellency John Pombe Joseph Magufuli.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of His Excellency John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, the 5th President of Tanzania, earlier this month. The Maldives grieves the loss of a member of our Commonwealth family, and extend our sympathies to the people of Tanzania during this difficult time. Rest assured your Excellency, that the Maldives will work with you in your new capacity as the sixth President of Tanzania, to strengthen the bilateral ties between our two nations.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Maldives, I also extend my prayers and well wishes to President John Magufuli’s family and loved ones, in their time of grief. May he rest in peace.”
