President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his trip to Hahdhunmathi Atoll and arrived back in Malé this evening. President Solih visited Kadhdhoo Island and Gan Island in Laamu Atoll.

The President’s first leg of the trip was to Kadhdhoo Island where he inspected a training demonstration at the Maldives National Defence Force's (MNDF's) Central Area Headquarter. The training took place from 16th November to 3rd December this year, aimed at enhancing the skills and readiness of Maldivian soldiers.

The President later visited Gan Island and inaugurated recently completed projects in the island, including the CT scan service at Laamu Gan Regional Hospital, Laamu Gan Zone Stadium and the Laamu Gan Central Power Plant.

President Solih also addressed the public at Gan Island, speaking on the Government’s many planned projects in Laamu Atoll in the upcoming year, in the spirit of helping the region develop rapidly. Additionally, he stated, amongst other announcements, that a Cancer Hospital will be established in Laamu Gan with the support of the Indian Government and that the Administration aims to provide free Covid-19 vaccines to all Maldivians and residents—inclusive of all documented and undocumented migrant workers, without any discrimination.

President Solih visited the recently constructed central power station and toured the area before ending the visit to Laamu Atoll.
