President Nasheed has said that it was his administration’s pledge that no household would have to spend more than 20% of their incomes for housing. The President made this statement while speaking to the people of Manadhoo during his visit to the island.

In his speech, the President announced that as part of the government’s housing policy, the work of building 150 flats in Manadhoo will begin this year. He added that these flats will be given on an instalment basis.

Highlighting on harbour difficulties faced by the people, the President said that the work of harbour development of Manadhoo will soon begin.

The President also announced that he has appointed Mr Hussain Shiyam as the Councillor to Manadhoo.

During his visit to Manadhoo, the President also met with teachers of Manadhoo School and a delegation from Lhohi.
