President Mohamed Nasheed today met with a delegation of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s UK Branch. The delegation was led by Labour MP Rt Hon. Paul Murphy. The delegation included MPs from the Conservative Party, Labour Party and the Liberal Democratic Party.
The delegation inquired about the political reform process in the Maldives and on ways how the CPA could assist the Maldives in strengthening democracy.
The President said he was hopeful that democracy would consolidate in the Maldives. He thanked the Commonwealth for its role in the political reform process, and added CPA could continue to impress upon all political stakeholders of the importance of sticking to the Commonwealth Latimar House Principles.
