President Nasheed has today met with the Head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in the Maldives, Mr Per Jensnas. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, discussions were focussed on the registration of a Red Crescent Society in the Maldives.

The President thanked IFRC for their contributions to the Maldives and noted the importance of having a Red Crescent Society in the Maldives. Further, he said that he understood the value of such a society in the Maldives and said that the government would provide co-operation to IFRC in this regard.

Mr Jensnas thanked the President for the Maldivian Government’s support and co-operation in various programs conducted by the IFRC in the Maldives.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed and senior members of the working group on the establishment of a Red Crescent Society in the Maldives.
