President Dr Mohamed Waheed has called on the people to extend greater support to the law enforcement authorities and the judiciary.

In his address to the people of Kaashidhoo, during his visit to the island on Wednesday, the President highlighted the importance of respecting one another in the society. The President noted that there was a trend of disrespect towards the judicial and the executive branches.

In his speech, the President said people must be more mindful of what the young people were being exposed to these days. He added that protecting children from inappropriate content broadcast by the media was an individual responsibility.

The President also spoke on the necessity of the state institutions, including the police, the armed forces, the judiciary and the executive branch, for the well-being of the nation. He said laws and regulations must be upheld to prevent conflicts and disruptions in any society.
