President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that he will not politicise the Police and the military. He made the statement today, while addressing the Police and military personnel based at Addu City.

Continuing in this regard, the President reassured that he would not give unconstitutional or unlawful order.

At the meeting held at the Southern Command in Gan of Addu City, President Waheed praised the Maldivian police and military for their high level of professionalism. He said they were the “most elite of youths” and that they were “the most educated, most experienced and bravest” of youths in the country He said the country was proud of their service and their invaluable national services were appreciated by all.

As part of his tour to Addu City, the President also visited Maradhoo-Feydhoo and Maradhoo and inspected the damages caused in both the islands during the unrest on 8 February.
