President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, addressed the Maldives National Defense Forces (MNDF) today on the occasion of their 128th Anniversary. Speaking as their Commander-in-Chief, the President extended felicitations to the senior ranking officials of the MNDF, in addition to all the members of the country’s armed forces and their families.

Praising their valor and dedication, President Solih described the MNDF as the shield that protects our citizens and nation. Further, he stated that the devotion of the country’s soldiers towards the safety and well-being of everyone in the Maldives is abundantly clear, as they stand in the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, whilst providing crucial relief to citizens. The President thanked them for their service and urged them to continue discharging their duties to the best of their abilities.

President Solih also noted some of the accomplishments of the MNDF over the past year, citing their exemplary work in response to the tragic case of the capsized speedboat in H.Dh Nolhivaranfaru and containing the fire that spread in Henveiru ward of Male' City. He extended his deepest appreciation and gratitude to all the national heroes who worked tirelessly to serve and protect the Maldivian people during these several crises.

The President concluded his address by stating that the greatest achievement by MNDF in the past year had been earning the trust and love of the people they serve, through their actions, determination and sacrifice.
