President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of sympathy to the President of India, His Excellency Mr Pranab Mukherjee, following the collapse of a four-storey building in the western city of Mumbai.
The President’s message to the Indian President reads as follows.
“I was deeply distressed to learn about the tragic loss of lives and grievous injury to dozens of people, following the collapse of a four-storey building in the western city of Mumbai.”
“At this time of distress, the Government and the people of the Maldives pledge our full support and extend our profound sympathy to you, the Government and the people of India, and in particular, to those who were directly affected by this tragedy.”
“I am confident that the Indian people will show courage, the will and determination to overcome this loss. Please also convey our sincere condolences to the injured victims and members of the bereaved families.”
