President Dr Mohamed Waheed has expressed hope to provide more housing flats for police and armed forces. He made the statement while speaking at a ceremony held last evening to officially handover the 50 flats being built for police officers.
Highlighting the crucial role of police and armed forces in maintaining law and order and providing the safety and security of the country, President Waheed said that the whole nation should recognize their efforts.
Underscoring that majority of police officers have served the nation for a long period of time under difficult living conditions, President Waheed expressed his satisfaction in handing over the flats to those officers.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Waheed applauded the commitment and hard work of Police Commissioner Riyaz in contributing to the developmental achievements made by the police force in the past two years.
In his speech, President urged the Police officers to uphold the constitution, and to ensure a smooth and peaceful election.
