This administration has made continuous efforts to uphold the law - President
25 December 2017, Ref: 2017-472

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that this administration has made continuous efforts to implement the laws of the country, without any discrimination against any individual.

The President made this statement while speaking at the ceremony held this evening at Eydhafushi Island of South Malhosmadulu Atoll, to mark the completion of the land reclamation and beach protection projects.

President Yameen reiterated that he would never interfere with the works of the judiciary, and stated that the law is being enforced without any chance for discrimination.

Moreover, the President shed light on the importance of deliberation among all stakeholders, and assured that he always welcomed constructive discussions. However, the President pointed out that pondering over matters already resolved was a waste of time, and said that his administration would not entertain such cases of distraction from what was more urgent.

Speaking to the people of Eydhafushi, President Yameen noted that the government providing for 187 islands equally was not an easy task during a five-year presidential term. He also underscored the efforts put in by the administration to resolve the challenges being faced by the Maldivian people, and realise their aspirations.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is currently on a three-day tour of South Miladhummadulu, Faadhippolhu and South Maalhosmadulu Atolls. The President has so far visited 7 Islands including Eydhafushi Island, as part of his tour. He is scheduled to visit Thulhaadhoo Island of South Maalhosmadulu Atoll tomorrow morning, as the last leg of this tour.
