06 August 2017, Ref: 2017-234

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reiterated this administration's efforts in best executing the country's rule of law. The President made this remark while speaking at a function held by the Progressive Party of the Maldives this afternoon.

In his speech, the President underscored the high priority accorded by this administration to promoting equality, justice, and peace among the people. He also stated the importance given by this administration to the practice of good governance.

Highlighting the high rise of corruption in the country, the President urged to make note of the situation the people would be in, if those in the highest offices of the State were submerged in bribery. Continuing on, President Yameen noted that minimising the destruction of our social fabric was hard yet essential, and mentioned that the material goals were attainable as long as we were on the right path.

The event was attended by members of the Cabinet and the Parliament.
